Whoa, almost forgot, tonight is the season finale of The Office, and the first hour-installment of the Lost finale (of 3 hrs).

am I the only one who's been disappointed in the past 2 episodes of The Office? They're just not nearly as funny as they've been in the past.

I think since Jim and Pam got a bit more serious, it's gone downhill focusing on that too much. They're crowding out the funnier side characters like Stanley, Kevin, and most of all, Creed.

Also, I cringe everytime Ryan comes on the scene anymore. They've taken his character too far, imo.

Yeah, I rewatched last week's episode last night. I guess next week there won't be an episode because stupid Grey's Anatomy is going to have a 2-hr season finale (do that on your own time!), so we'll get one episode tonight, and then two weeks from now they'll show a 2-hr episode continuing the finale.

I don't think they took Ryan's character too far... He is just too impressionable and too into image, so I'm not surprised he fell for the bad aspects of being a young, "hip" kid in NYC.

And last week's episode of The Office wasn't super, super funny, but I didn't think it was bad. The deleted scenes add to the funny:

And Did I Stutter from two weeks ago was a great episode featuring a secondary character, Stanley... They didn't crowd him out in that one. The deleted scenes for that episode were also quite funny:

I agree that the secondary characters have gotten a bit less screen time, but remember that we lost a lot of time from the writers' strike, so in order to get to the point they wanted to get to for the finale, they had to make up for lost time with Jim and Pam... I'm sure that if we hadn't had that huge break in the middle of the season, the focus wouldn't have been so leaning towards them in most episodes.

    Have a nice date! :)

Personally, I've been quite happy with all of my shows coming back after the writers' strike. I think The Office and Lost have been great, and I'm not really disappointed in either show. Battlestar Galactica had a few slow shows, but it's still really compelling.

The thing with The Office is that during the hiatus (and even now), I've rewatched the previous seasons so many times that almost none of the things that I see in the current season seem out of character for anyone. A lot of the criticisms I've heard about characters being "wrong" just don't make sense to me because in previous seasons, the characters have been progressing directly to the point that they're at now. For example, a lot of people were taken aback by the fight Jan and Michael had in "Dinner Party". But if you see how they interacted in the past, particularly in "Boys and Girls", it makes complete sense.

I don't mean to get all analytical... It's just been something I've been thinking about for a while. :)

i understand what you're saying. people evolve in real life as they do on The Office. i love reading your analyses. (sp?) keep them coming! :)
